The Sachem CSD Physical Education Department recommends fitness testing at least twice each school year, in the fall and spring.

- Heights and Weights- measuring body fat
- Sit and Reach- measuring flexibility of the hamstrings and lower back, students sit down and place both feet inside the measuring box and reach as far as possible.
- Curl-Up- measuring abdominal strength and endurance, students lie down with knees bent and feet anchored by a classmate. Students will complete as many repetitions as possible within a 1 minute timed period.
- Push-Up- measuring upper body strength and endurance, students lower body to a 90-degree elbow angle and push up. Set to a specified pace, students complete as many repetitions as possible.
- PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run)- set to music, a paced, 20 meter shuttle run increasing in intensity as time progresses.
